Ready To Go¶
You need an HMI for your product, you don’t have a lot of time, and you need it to “just work.” Start with a Reach Technology development kit… You’ll get a solidly engineered and tested controller, display and touch sensor along with the cables and peripherals needed to interface to the rest of your system. Use standard RAD tools to build your HMI and debug right on the target. When it’s ready for production, you can flash the eMMC yourself, or provide a master image to Reach Technology, and we’ll do it as part of our manufacturing process.
Customized Embedded O/S¶
There are a lot of devices out there that are running embedded Linux. Most are not well optimized, and many offer hobbled versions of Linux standard utilities just to get them to fit in an under provisioned hardware design. At Reach Technology, we’ve spent a lot of time tuning the embedded image to maximize performance, provide full function utilities and make it easy to develop for our platform.
We’ve also spent a great deal of effort making it quick and easy to add software support for your custom I/O device requirements.
Choice of GUI¶
Used to be that you bought an embedded controller, and you were stuck with whatever GUI toolkit the manufacturer supported. At Reach Technology we believe you should have choices. Use the best tool for the particular product requirement. So, we offer Qt, GTK, WxWidgets and LVGL. Also, in most cases you can code in C, C++ or Python3. Oh, and it’s the _full_ Python3, not a shoe-horned subset like MicroPython.

Web/IoT Ready¶
Need to collect remote telemetry from your product? Or maybe you need to support a RESTful API to enable remote control functions. In the current high threat internet environment, how do you do that safely?
We’ve provided industry standard tools right in the embedded image. You get: lighttpd, nodejs, reddis and mosquitto to build your web application and IoT communications stack. You get nginx and firehol to secure it.
OTA Update Built In¶
Businesses like to hold on to tech devices as long as they can. But they also want the latest and greatest features. And products connected to the internet need regular updates to address the latest exploits and vulnerabilities. Sending trained technicians out to every customer to update their devices on a regular basis drives up your costs and the end user’s TCO.
Our controllers provide proven built-in update capabilities. Updates can be applied from USB sticks or “over the air.” Various anti-bricking features are built in so you never have to worry about leaving a customer high and dry.
Long Term Availability¶
Many products have to go through rigorous certification cycles today. This means that whatever components you choose for inclusion in your product have got to be availble now and several years down the road. This can be particularly challenging in the LCD display space. Reach Technology designs all of its display modules for a minimum ten year life span.
